A Castellon court has placed a 'stop' order on part of the works for the new Castellón/ Costa de Azahar airport.

The order affects works that are being carried out on the Santa Barbara Mountain in Vilanova d'Alcolea, and are the result of a complaint lodged by an environmental lobby.

The decision came after it came to light that part of the works appeared to be being undertaken without the proper paperwork, and were affecting a cave known as the Avenc de Santa Barbara and its considerable population of bats.
