Title: car insurance
Post by northlea on Aug 18th, 2010 at 12:36pm
Can anyone reccomend a decent insurance company here, the premiums just rise and rise even though our vehicle gets older and the value declines.
Dont get this here at all.
Any ideas greatfully received.

Thanks. :-/

I have found linea directa to be very competitive and all policies are in English plus they do pay up on claims (from personal experience)

Just a bit of info re Linea Directa.  I had a policy with them and thought the premium was a bit high at renewal time.  I asked my bank for a competitive quote which they supplied and I signed up.  Soon after, LD rang me and asked me what I wanted to do and I told them I'd gone with a competitor.  They then offered me the same policy at around 100 euros cheaper.  Moral ?  Get a couple of quotes to find out what's realistic and then tell LD they need to give you a good price.
I have to say that although I agree that LD are an OK insurer, it annoys me that they didn't offer me the cheaper rate at the outset.  Pure profiteering ?

Totally agree about the profiteering, insured with Ibex last year car on Brittish plates, this year on Spanish plates premium nearly 25%-vehicle one year older, more miles, totally legal and i am punished for it.
Wheres the logic?
Disagreed with Ibex and told them i will go somewhere else, they offer me a 30% discount. DAH. :o

check to see if the premium includes insuring the no claims bonus; so do, some don't and it's worth doing (IMHO).

Try Liberty Seguros
http://www.libertyseguros.es/opencms/opencms/contenidos_expatriates/fi/secciones/index.html

We had the same scenario when we first insured a car in spain they wouldn't accept a British no claims bonus of 7 years even though it was with a good company Zurich, after the first year with no claims they were going to keep the premium the same and just automatically take it out of our bank account,

Luckily we had done research and got 3 other quotes all three were cheaper and surprise when we told them they said they would match the cheapest quote!!

Sorry toooooo Late we are British we shop around!!

also cancelled our bank DD be careful if you don't give them 2 months notice of change of insurer they will take the money anyway and you will have to fight for a refund!!

SHIT INNIT they don't understand competition!!
