The Catalan nationalist party CiU (Convergència i Unió) has won the 2010 election and will take over from the Catalan socialist party PSOE. Artur Mas will become the next president of the Generalitat, taking over from José Montilla with "humility, responsibility and hope" as a "server" and "not as a savior."

The win is not a majority however and the CiU will need to form pacts with other parties. The CiU won a total of 62 seats, 6 short of a majority.
