Also according to the wording of the article this seems to be a tax on the banks not the account holders "A new low-rate Spanish bank deposit tax, which will see banks rather than account holders pay levies"
Unless they mean the banks will collect the levy's directly instead of account holders being required to state all assets. This sparse article is unclear. Bruixot |

Reading the article it appears to be a tax on the banks, not on the savers although I'm sure the banks will pass it on. I guess the 0.1% interest they currently pay on savings (if you're lucky!) will reduce to zero to cover the cost.
