Yes - it is WiMax and it comes via the internet. It may not have problems today or tomorrow but may do at some time in the future.
What do I base this on? At Christmas I spoke to a company that provides an IPTV service and also have their own WiMax network based near Torrevieja. They have been in business quite a few years so have lots of experience. The transmitters in the towers (the ones everyone connects to) are referred to as 'Panels'. On a typical WiMax network anything from 40 to 100+ users will connect via a single panel as they share channels and bandwidth. The company in Torrevieja will not allow more than 8 IPTV users to be connected to a single panel as they have had problems with breakup when connecting more users. So today no, tomorrow maybe not, but when you start overloading the system then yes. WiMax is WiMax be it Iberbanda, Eurona, Ebrecom or another company. This capacity problem does not affect ADSL which is why I will only supply IPTV services to ADSL users. |
