You absolutely have to be registered to legally take in paying guests.

Don't panic, we have a HUT as the house was a holiday let before we bought, so just took the cert over:)

The original question related to tax.  I would expect that for the most part tax is payable where you are domiciled so simply include any profit (after legitimate and demonstrable deductions) in your tax return at home using the up-to-date rate of exchange as applicable but declare it as foreign income.  I have a niggling feeling that there might be an issue as to what is legitimate to write down to tax over a period of time.  I know that there were differences between how expenses were handled in the UK and here once I started living here.  Your accountant, if you have one, should put you straight on it all. 

I sort of agree Michael, however the British government want overseas countries who trade in the UK to pay tax there, & I'm sure the Spanish government feel the same, so as our trading is in Spain should we not pay the tax here?
