The shops with the widest range of goods are the Chinese supermarkets.

The simple answer is no.  They don't do things like that here, you'll just have to go native or shop in the UK :)

Plenty of food supermarkets.  If there are specific items you need, post a list on here and I'll see if I can point you in the right direction.

Many thanks for all comments.
You don't know until you ask. Had a feeling there weren't any B&Q type places in Tortosa.
I know Tarragona has superstores,  are there any nearer ones that you know of ie Reus, Santa Barbara etc ?.
I'm sure in time I will find most things I need in Tortosa.

I think what you will find in Spain that superstores in
A local community or in towns will wipe out ,
Local small shops such as the butcher, bakery, greengrocer and
Fishmonger.
This is what has happened in the UK ,all the small
Shops have virtually gone because big superstores have
Taken over.
I have heard there is going to be a shopping complex and
More on the way to salou or near port aventura ,I think it
Is Barcelona world ,its a 250acre site ,but what it contains ,I don't know.

As I said, depends what you want.  There are B&Q type places in Tarragona (Reus and Tarragona are virtually the sale place.)
There's a Bauhaus, Leroy Merlin and Carrefour all on one trade park just off the motorway in Tarragona (easy to get to, about a one hour drive).
There's a Bricorama at Vinaros (along with other stores such as Carrefour and electrical outlets.
Irrigation kit is available locally (Amposta for instance).  Tell us what you need and I'll give you directions.
Only local shops in Santa Barbara.
A good timber yard in Amposta.

There are plenty of hardware shops in Tortosa. Garcias next to Carefour does garden irrigation stuff and Tot Llatje probably does too.

Totosa has been a thriving city for hundreds of years, I'm sure you'll manage :)

Yeah but it is missing a Leroy Merlin, or a Bauhaus,I did hoped once MacDonald, s/ Decathlon was built that the rest would follow,I know its good for local business not to have competion, and I use them all the time when I'm over, but they just cannot hold the same amount of stock as the big companies do,and at the same prices,
For big item its worth the time and fuel to drive up to Tarragona,I've found anyway.

Hay Bigyin never known about a timber yard in Amposta ?have you got a address ,by any chance ,anyone there speak a little English ,yes I know after all these years I should have learnt some Spanish that,s going to be one of my retirement projects LOL !!!!!!
I usually can manage to get close to what I need timber wise, at Mayors ,but they have not got much of a selection and not the best quality.

Coming from Tortosa to Amposta on the C12, go straight over the roundabout (3rd exit, signpost Amposta sud, Tarragona/Castello).  About halfway along that straight stretch, turn left on a small road by a tall Leylandii tree opposite Suimplast Materials  The warehouse is about 200m on the right called Fustes Roca.  It's only small but has most of what you'd need at good prices.  They'll cut for you also.  No English spoken but just look around and list the lengths/sizes you want.

Well, I survived my first solo outing into Tortosa. To be honest I found the SIMPLY supermarket  excellent. There you go, I'm not so fussy after all. Have a feeling Tortosa and surrounding area will more than adequate.  My thanks to all for the feedback

Hi it really doesnt take long to get over here to Vinaros. On the N340 look out for Macdonalds turn in right and you will find Bricorama large DIY, large Carrefour, JYSK, Aldi, Cash and Carry, shoe shop, Clothes shop, furniture shops, large Chinese, fresh fruit warehouses, Norauto, Decathlon, cheap fuel, Plus lots more being constructed. Very good shops in the town itself. Plus lots of good Restaurants. Market day Thursday.
