Title: eyeonspain forum Post by Cariad on Sep 7th, 2016 at 12:16pm
On the eyeonspain forum there is a topic regarding quality and taste of food in Spain ie fruit and veg etc and comparing prices to uk. The general opinion seems to be quality and prices are cheaper in uk. Have a read of the article and see if you agree with the comments. I must say I agree with some of the replies

It may be helpful if you could include a link to the forum topic as I cannot seem to find it easily.
Thanks |

I've read it twice now and I would say that the majority of the replies disagree with the OP. Probably depends on where you shop. My experience is that good quality fruit and veg are more expensive in the UK than here but meat is cheaper

The person who posted that sounds a plonker, anyway.
Like other members suggested about him on there. What food is he buying for £20 a week and living on in the U.K. In South Africa all the best fruit etc. is exported, so maybe it happens here in Spain aswell? |

Where is this guy? Benidorm? Only buys stuff from his local English speaking corner minimart?
I grow my own veg but when I have occasionally bought them from either my village almacen or supermarkets (I refuse to use lidls or aldis) then they have always been fresh and probably tastier than uk supermarkets, and certainly cheaper. All this shows is that other forums do not have the class or quality of members that our own forum has😇😉 |

I to don't know where he shops!!
I can go to my local spar and buy 5 small baquettes for 1.00 euros Sometimes they do 3 large baquettes for 1.00euro. They fail to mention petrol is cheaper here Bag of lemons here is approximately 1.60. And don't forget all the big supermarkets in the UK Put all the corner shops out of business by dictating prices Here in local villages the small shop thrives |

If you don't grow your own but would like to eat organic produce then there is a growing number of ecological farms that sell to the public.
In Tortosa there is La Sort, huge selection of own grown produce plus produce brought from other suppliers, in Xerta there is at least one just on the edge of the village, in L'Aldea there is another (not sure exactly where). I was recently told about another on the outskirts of Roquetes, heading towards Els Reguers. I believe there are some that deliver. |

I am actually a member of that site, and have been for several years, but have never posted anything. But been tempted to many times, when there are such stupid remarks, which of course can be wind ups, between certain members.
Also not all members are Brits. and the same applies to some of the members on the Tortosa Forum. So allowances have to be made for the grammar and the spelling mistakes sometimes. |

8-) And what everyone else said really. I admit it grates to have to pay more for Spanish grown bananas than South American though, but I will every time. |

if you want quality you have to pay for it.if you want to have the best bargain you must accept a different quality.
never mind the members of this forum. if you want the prices you could pay in the U.K. then you should go and live there but stop always comparing. most expats realice that every country is different maybe that is the reason we all live here. accept all the other bonuses you have here try to open your eyes for them. |
