Title: Sky TV Reception
Post by Nigel on Apr 5th, 2005 at 2:57pm
Sky TV is easily available in the area (although you do need a large dish!)

I have been told that a 1.1M dish is sufficient, although I use a 1.3M dish.  You may also benefit from a low noise LNB (0.3db is cheap and easy to get hold of).

Alignment is a bit more tricky with digital than with the old analogue satellites, but can be done with a satellite finder meter if you know the general direction you need to point in!

We ended up with a perfect picture on all channels.

You should be able to pick up a Sky box fairly cheaply.  You can get a Freeview card for £20 from Sky (call 08708 80 99 80). It's probably worth plugging in your Sky box and making sure it all works with the Freeview card before you take it to Spain.

If you need to, you can reset the Sky channels (sometimes needed when you get a new card)

To do this (from memory) , press Services/4/01 Enter/ select New Installation/ enter/Enter...keep going and it will say 'Scanning for Channels' then 'Channel line up complete'.

Carry on out and back to the normal menus and you're done.
