Good luck - it sounds like you're fairly determined and I hope it works out for you as well as it has for us.

As you have a little while then I would really recommend investing in 'Spanish with Michael Thomas' which is (in my opinion!) an excellent way to learn Spanish - but you need to set aside time (as a family if possible) to really learn it. Personally I listened to it for about 10 hour a day for 3 months solid - and at the end I could converse reasonably well in Spanish - but you MUST concentrate and work at it.
