Don't know anything about the school system but I know there is a highschool in Amettla "IES Mare de Déu de la Candelera" (I did see a lot of foreign-looking kids there the last time). They have a (Catalan) website:

(I think the kids go there when they are 12 years old, if I understand the info given by the "cursos" section)
