We have recently had our vehicle stolen from car park 4 at Reus airport.  Both the police and the man at the rental desk in the airport confirmed others had been stolen.  Just wanted to inform you as it is not very nice to get of the plane and find you do not have transport.  Ours was not a new vehicle, was UK registered and legal, insurance, mot and licence.  It had new tyres on it so will probably be broken up by now.

Sorry to hear Betty. Perhaps if you could disable your vehicle - like on an older model, remove the rotor arm or the coil cable to the distributor, etc. On the new models I am sure there is also many ways you could remove a cable or the likes.  The thieves don't like spending too much time finding out why their "chosen" prize is not running and would move off to their second choice.

If you are leaving your car overnight can you not clamp them or the old fashioned steering lock.
Are you convinced it it is now scrap metal or can we spread the word for you if you pm me with registration number and car details + photo will help.

Someone may have only used it as a lift home and dumped it.

Insurers have paid out for stolen vehicle.  But just for info if you have a UK insured vehicle and leave it in Spain while you go back to the UK it is not insured.  To be covered by UK insurance you must also be in the country your vehicle is in.

Those bar steward insurance people will weedle their way out of anything won't they, really makes your blood boil dunnit >:(

If Not !!

Then every holiday maker that lives in the UK and travels abroad for their Holidays will not be insured if they leave their car at an airport carpark?

I will have to check the small print on our Insurace Policy

As Usual Big Insurance companies will find any stupid reason not to pay out!!

Sorry if anyone misunderstood my comment. "To be covered by UK insurance you must be in the county the vehicle is in".  This does not apply to the country the car is registered and insured in.

If your vehicle is registered and insured in the UK you can leave it at any UK airport and go abroad and it will be covered.

If your vehicle is registered and insured in the UK and you leave it at the airport or anywhere else in another country (eg Spain - on your own land or the airport) and fly back to the UK or go on holiday to another country then you are not with your vehicle and it is not covered.
