It all seems a very blinkered approach to a problem that doesn't really exist.If the powers that be put more thought and effort into promoting the river rather than demoting it the whole area would benefit.
Each fisherman,coming into the area to pleasure fish spends about £700 a week in total doing so.That could be a lot more money into the local economy if it was promoted/marketed and managed properly.
What use is 'killing' 327 fish.( I saw the ba$tards with the spear guns) They would do better poisoning every living creature in the river system and then re introducing the original native inhabitants,which have been poisoned by chemical and fertilizer run off,spillages from the power station and raw sewerage anyway.
