Well said Old Nelson! I have spoken to Mark Smithson (Vice Consul in Barcelona) on three occasions regarding the cedula situation and the response has been that, because it's a Spanish/Catalan legal issue, they can't get involved.

I have also tried to contact, directly and through Mark, the Honorary Consul for Tarragona - a man Called Manuel Vallvé - for an update on the situation with absolutely no response.  Ironically we actually used Manuel Vallvé (a solicitor in Tarragona with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office logo on his website - http://www.vahusari.com/) to buy our house.  It's an absolute scandal that he now wants nothing to do with this situation but happily continues to display his honorary consul credentials on his company's web site.

I pretty sure he'll be there on May 25th and if he is I won't be asking him about pensions!
