Title: Burglaries
Post by hazelnut on Jun 30th, 2010 at 7:41am
Apparently there is a Bloke trekking about in a tatty blue Van looking for scrap metal!! Yeah Right!! seems very friendly looks to be of Gypsie origin

If you see him take his registration down and report it to the mossos.

The scrap metal inquiry is a scam he is really interested in clocking what you have got !! After his visit Generators and machinery go missing so be on your guard!!

Repel borders at the gate if poss, keep your chains up and let the dogs out!!

I have lost 3 metal window frames and a big old cast iron vice along with a copper cylinder to this b#$&^%d.
My neighbour has also lost 2 lorry batteries.

The window frames he very kindly smashed all the glass out of on to the grassy area were my dog goes, so I have had to spend about 4 hours picking up shards of glass.
When I see him he can have the glass as well with my compliments. He paid 3 visits to my place.
From what I understand his van is sort of Berlingo shaped, and is usually very weighed down at the back.

I think I will make a home made stinger to be placed in my drive  between 10:pm and when we get up in the morning!! so that if we do get uninvited visitors, at least it will cost them in Tyre repairs!! and they won't get far with a van load of scrap weighing them down!!

I am also leaving my garden rakes scattered about for a smack in the face for unsuspecting night prowlers

Any more specific on the type of van? Is it a small or big (Kangoo/C15 or DAF/Transit) size? Any markings/stripes or just plain blue? I see lots around the area so any additional info will help!

Nigel

Almost certainly a Spanish Gypsy from the sound of it.

With a local the other day Nr Campredo, we came across this van, driving very slowly around the area at siesta time, friend was certain the gypsies inside were on the rob, siesta time is well known [apparently] for drive by lurkers. The out of town plate was also, said to be a dodgy sign.

Not sure if this is the same van, but here is a photo I took of them through the windscreen. 2 men, 2 "ladies", all I saw was 30 year old M and F in the back out of the 4.

We did not see them actually do anything illegal, so could not, but I took a photo anyway... If you ever see dodgy f***ers lurking, do the same.

The Police are pretty much powerless with robberies under E400 value I think ?

The CS out of town registration was significant according to my friend, Tortosa Gypsies are meant to be well known for not robbing locally [although they will fence anything, but will give you back your stuff if you ask...]

Yeah, I realise they're mobile.  Just wondered that's all.  On the subject of where, I find it a bit frustrating when people ask "where can I get hold of xxx ?" and they don't indicate what area they're in so you don't waste time sending them miles unnecessarily.

You used be be able to xxx (or triple X  as we used call it) in most respectable hostelries, namely the Grapes in Altrincham or the Bass drum in Stretford, although, granted, the latter of the two has never been called respectable.
Hope this helps.
