Title: Peeling onions without tears Post by Nigel on Dec 28th, 2010 at 8:04pm
Peeling and slicing onions always makes my eyes run and hurt like hell. I've read ov various techniques to prevent this; peel them under water - but how do you then dice or slice?, put them in the fridge so they are cold, open the window etc.
I have, however, found the perfect cure! So simple, swimming goggles - ok, you look a bit odd and your other half might curl up laughing but it works (for me anyway). I can (and have) peel, slice, dice etc. loads of onions with absolutely no ill effects. Try it for yourself or maybe you have some other method thet is worth trying.... |

If you sniff several lines of white pepper 3 hours before peeling onions then you will have no tears left to cry.
Actually I was taught to always breathe in through my mouth and out through my nose and I have never had a problem, just keep your hands away from your face. |
