Title: Flat Batteries.
Post by briand6868 on Apr 2nd, 2011 at 6:02pm
Hi,
Just in relation to parking at Reus - if you leave your car,say for 4 months, and come back out surely the battery will be gone flat. Does this happen and if so how do people overcome it ?

You could always buy one of those solar trickle chargers that plug into your cig lighter.

Get a portable jump starter they sell them at Maplins and other stores and I have seen them over here in Spain. Keep it charged up and it will get you out of trouble as they hold a charge quite well.

Will it keep enough charge if left in the boot of the car, it would take up quite a bit of room in Ryanair cabin baggage, if o'dreary let you take it on board.

Mine is about 7 years old and will still start a car after several months after a full charge. They are available in Spain in the larger supermarkets etc. I don't think putting one in cabin baggage is a good idea though .

Type in Solar Trickle Charger on ebay UK
See item number: 260763132772 on ebay these work great and keep the battery topped up just fine!! some cig lighters are connected without the ignition being switched on others you will have to connect to the battery direct with the croc clips provided

They are light and would go in your hand or cabin baggage then can be left in the car when you return to the UK Plonked on the dash and linked up to the battery they will keep it charged for months, they have a blocking diode so they won't discharge your battery when it goes dark!!
