Title: Dentist Update
Post by ddspain on Jun 2nd, 2011 at 9:02am
Sorry to start another subject about dentists, but the last one is two years old.
What is the latest on good dentists in Amposta/Tortosa area.
I would like to know about English speaking and non.
Also, female dentists and no pain.
Do all dentists mentioned do everything, check-ups etc (how much?), not just extractions?

We use Clinica Dental, in Tortosa near Lidl.
We see a nice young male dentist who speaks very good English, and is very helpful.
There is a lady dentist aswell named Montserrat.
Have seen lots of other Brits in there too, using both of these dentists. So shows they are good and reasonable.
Think the full x.ray and check up cost about 60 euro?
If you need any other treatment he will give you a print out of costs. They also send a message to your mobile to remind you of your appointment.

I'd endorse this.  The guy's name is Josep.  He's excellent.  Very friendly and puts you at your ease if your nervous.  I've had several treatments from him (extraction, fillings etc) and been very pleased on every occasion.

Clinica Dental,
C/Francesc Pizarro 13a. 43500 Tortosa.
Tel: 977504124
e.mail  mmarquez@meditex.es
Dra. Monttserrat Marquez Bargallo
The lady above is not the dentist that we see, but is a young man mentioned on a poster inside the clinic, who does dentistry and implants.  Sorry can't remember his name.  (Good English).

Clinica Dental, near Lidl Tortosa.
Side road opposite florist shop.
Go in and ask to speak to an English speaking dentist.
Very helpful there.

There is also another English-speaking dentist who my husband once saw near the station in Tortosa - has anyone seen him, as I can't remember the details, just that he was quite good?  I once saw Montserrat at the clinic you mention near Lidls - I had excruciating pain and knew I needed a filling, if not a nerve taking out, but she told me there was no problem, gave me a lecture on how to brush my teeth and charged me quite a bit to boot.  Fortunately, I was going to England soon afterwards so paid a visit to my old dentist who told me I had a cavity on the nerve and sorted it out. Talking to a local woman soon after, she'd had a similar experience with woman dentist.

I think if you go into any dentist practice they will have a 'general' list of charges, for work they carry out.
So maybe worth 'shopping around'.

Yes, last week  I went in to make appointment in Tortosa to see Josep, and was told he was in L'Ametlla now.
So will see Juan? instead, this coming week.

I went yesterday and saw Joan and his English is understandable but you have to ensure he knows what you want. €55.00 for a small white filling, no injection needed, after all I am a man so we can handle the pain more :D

Very brave of you. So if and when you get flu, you don't complain that it's 'Man Flu'. then?
I also saw Joan the dentist yesterday, but he requires a lot more money from me, worst luck.

I wonder if someone could give me a rough idea how much a crown would cost at the dentist,I live in France, but have a house in Amposta and wonder how prices compare.

I think the cost would be 300 euros?
You can always go into a dentist practice here, and ask for the cost.

Thank you RRB for your reply ,if that is correct it is less than half of what I paid in France €750 .I had an old crown drop out last week and to get it cemented back in it cost me €128 for 15 minutes.
