I also hear they are considering a extra charge for overweight people.  :D

Where do these gutter press newspapers get their info from. I have never paid 120 euros for my luggage.
Everything he says is to get publicity.  ;)

Same old, same old.  Didn't we discuss the weight thing only a few weeks ago?  They do not have any plans to do this.

Such a deceitful headline for this article too "Ryanair: charges for carry-on baggage 'inevitable' " when you read in the main article "At some time in the future I think it's likely that airlines will charge for carry-on bags but I can't get my head round how you would do it. I think it's unlikely that we will do it – until I can see what's in it for us," Mr O'Leary said.

So no plans for charging for carry on bags and no plans to charge passengers by weight.  One checked 15kg bag into Reus from Bristol in August is £50 for the return trip.  The huge charges quoted in the article are for checking a bag in at the airport, something that they warn you will be very expensive.

Incidentally, I have just been checking flights for my son to fly out here from Bristol on Saturday 17th August for a week and Ryanair (to Reus) want £148.17 return, inc one 15kg hold bag.  Easyjet (to Barcelona) want £265.98 inc one 20kg hold bag.

I would read the article as, he is going to do it as soon as he figures out a way. Experience has shown that it is not wise to give the benefit of doubt to O  Leary.  :)

He explained why he didn't think that he would do it.  What about the other airlines?  Are you bothered about them doing it, or is it just Ryanair that shouldn't?

*€60.00 return to LPL,just got back.
He makes £8.00 (gross) per passenger
He's worth £335m so he's doing something right.
Why do people knock him,he is a business man providing a service not a charity organiser.
*You couldn't get halfway to Reus in a taxi from here for that.
And no I don't have shares..... ;)

For sure Ryanair are doing things right, probably the best value airline in the world. Its because he is a "business man"
that as soon as he figures out that it is to his advantage to charge for cabin baggage he will charge.  As to why people knock O,leary take a look at the pic in the article, there is a clue there. :)

Well bearing in mind the spin already used in that story (ie anti O'Leary) I doubt they would use a photo that shows him at his best would they?  :)

I just knew this thread would go on and on LOL  ;D!!! I am not a anti Ryanair candidate at all,and have  absolutely no problems with them, but having a small bank balance,I  always go to the ends of the earth to get the best deal, and  they just are not the cheapest for me from Leeds /Bradford , might be from Stanstead or Liverpool "sometimes" but I factor in diesel and car parking as well, and remember the extra 7kg !!!!!!! + better flight times.

O'Leary lovers are having a bad couple of days?  I bet they are crying themselves to sleep because the Daily Mail sheeple are being a bit mean........or, alternatively, they could just be getting on with their lives.   ::)

People should be glad that pilots are being told to conserve fuel.  If it adds an extra two minutes to your flight are you really going to be that put out?

So what if you have to pay for food and booze?  If you really cannot do without either for two or three hours and you don't want to pay for expensive airline **** then take a packed lunch and buy a 175ml bottle of wine at the airport

And if people really aren't aware by now that you have to read right down to the bottom line before agreeing to a contract they probably shouldn't be allowed out on their own.
