We have had a card for the last 10years and paid for it in the beginning and received hospital care and doctors app with no problems. In the last month or so our card has been cancelled and we are not in the "system". We have had to re-apply for a new card with many hours and a lot of paperwork at the social serv offices in Ferrreries. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

We had the same thing happen to us last December. It turned out that it was because we had not renewed our empadriamento. We went to Tortosa town hall, got it renewed and then we were able to reinstate the Cat Salut card and everything was back to normal. Take copies of all documents and passports with you. Hope this helps

Finally after 5 weeks I have been able to reactivate my health card. Seems that the rules have changed yet again re health care in Spain. After 2012 new expats coming to here will have to pay, is this going to put more people off buying in this area.
