I've read somewhere (maybe on here?) that cockles are a good bait for the cats, I havent tried yet just stuck with the halibut pellets, to be honest i havent had a lot of luck fishing the river so would def be up for some sort of club, might have better luck if i can copy someones tactics that knows what there doing!!!  :-/

I find mussels good for cats not the part cooked ones but fresh , shell them on the river bank use a blunt knife if you have some elasticated cotton it helps to hold them on the hook, sweet corn for carp, I am not in spain a lot of the time so I dont think I would have a lot of input in a club but would not mind a days fishing with the club if you form one I am in ginestar, I am not an expert on fresh water fishing as most of the time back home I can be found on our boat fishing the mersey bay

thanks for your input Robo, hopefully we can get a relaxed fishing club up and running if we have enough interest. its not just for the expert, but for person who just enjoys and likes to fish like me. the idea would be to choose a place which is easily accessable, set a day and time.  for example Xerta, easy parking, easy access in one area. might be a good place to start. anyone have a thoughts

Best to make sure everyone has an up to date fishing licence first.
Otherwise fishing tackle could be confiscated!

Generalitat, Catalunya. you can apply online or visit office in Tortosa.
Best you do some homework and check out rules and regulations before starting up a club!

What a good idea, I spend some of the year in Aldover and have walked the river wanting to fish it but didn't know enough about the do's & don'ts. So when I come to Spain to fish I go to Mequinenza with an organised trip and take the easy way out. If there was a club in the Tortosa area it would be good to make contact when I was due in Spain to see if there was anything planned during my stay or at least keep upto date on any changes in the rules and best places to fish.

Its about time someone took the bull by the horns and started a club here for ex-pats. I have many years experience as chairman and committee member of a large uk club. I also have many years fishing and guiding on the Ebro and if there are any specific questions I can help with, I would only be to pleased to help.
Where and when do we meet ?
Andy
