The past owners still live in the area.I think that maybe in the end they were just not making enough money to keep it going. The position of it was probably not the best spot?

The past owner is back here in Blighty living about 15 minutes from my old hunting ground and has been for a good while. Having said that he's not been seen for a good while.

Are you talking about Gerry? Or Stan? Is that pub still open? I wish there was somewhere we could all meet up! It used to be good to meet fellow Ex-pats out there. Could someone not start up a cafe /bar out there so we can all meet up??

Some of the local people here are struggling to keep a business going, let alone ex pats try and open up a cafe/ bar.
There are so many rules, regulations and taxes to be paid here, it's not worth even thinking about opening anything!

Location may not suit all but worth trying Los Arcos sports bar in Miami Platja...nice bar, all premiership football, English food (if that's what you want!)...open all year. Rodney & Marina seem good hosts.

A lot of these "Bars" fail because they have huge mortgages on the property/lease and borrow for stock/fixtures fittings etc. A large number of the Spanish bars/Shops are owned outright so the money they take in Summer season will tide them over the winter and not go to pay debts apart from rates etc. A lot of the Brits I see here in Spain who hang around these "Brit Bars" I would not even say hello to in the UK and I certainly do not want to meet them in groups with the echo of Phil Thompson on Sky Sports droning on at 5,000 decibels whilst I read my telegraph and smoke a morning cigar. I do not include of course any of you dear readers in my sweeping statement.  ;D ;D ;D

Cheer on the reds Mr B.....think they need all the support they can get at the mo! I haven't watched a match at los Arcos as yet so I'll feed back on atmosphere and clientele after Sunday.
Regards, Ray.

Rayo. It was a bit of a tight squeeze at the los Arcos sports bar last week for the Barca game. Hope you lot don't kick off with the local oldies.

Title: Los Arcos bar...Miami Platja
Post by rayo on Nov 3rd, 2014 at 10:11pm
Take heart....best I've seen them play this season. Having 11 men could have made for a different outcome!
Los Arcos bar was just fine...a dozen Brits (no fellow southerners) and 3 or 4 locals. All good natured. Nice bar set up...mostly sports orientated but an upper lounge area with soft furnishings...maybe for the ladies.
Worth a visit if passing through.

Did you check out the nosebag ?  A sign of good English/Irish fare in this part of the world is the all day breakfast.  ;)

The requisite 'all day brekkie' was certainly featured, but Rodney's wife (Marina) is Spanish Mexican I think...so we opted for the tapas menu. Simple stuff but tasty.
