Some advice for everyone, take photographs of everything you consider valuable or sentimental, take the picture with the front page of a daily newspaper clearly in view, this will show the date that the photograph was taken and make at least three copies, keep two copies in the home, one to give to the police if they are required to attend, one for your insurance company (the picture with the newspaper date shows the insurance company that you had the item on that date) and :o give the other copy to a friend to keep in their house, just in case the offenders take your copies!.  Photographs can be kept on a disc and put into an old dvd case, highly unlikely  that offenders will steal English dvd's but make sure you also have a hard copy on file, not on your laptop or computer as this could be stolen.  If you are broken into, do not touch anything, call the police, whilst you are waiting try and take as many photographs as possible showing the point of entry, rooms searched and where the property has been taken from, do not disturbed footprints or marks but try and cover them up if the weather is going to change or it is raining.  One the police have done their bit, it is worth visiting local second hand shops and showing them the photographs to see if anything turns up, also worth noting that as in England no one wants to be caught with stolen goods so second hand shops informed of thefts will be grateful if they know about it before paying out for goods that may well be taken back by the police, they also loose out!.  Please, please, inform everyone on here so that we may all be on guard, anything suspicious is worth passing on.  Here's hoping that none of us needs the police!
