Good morning fishman, you need to connect your laptop to your tv with either a HDMI cable or a 15 pin video cable.  Then switch on both appliances and select the appropiate channel on you TV, it will open with whatever is on your laptop screen, then you just go to camposat as normal.
Sound will only play through your tv though if you use HDMI. though.
