Title: Hunting on private land
Post by LizyAl on Oct 24th, 2016 at 12:35am
Hi, we found people parked and hunting with dogs, shotguns and  rifles on our land. We really don't want to pee off the locals but it's a bit much if you're afraid to walk out your own door with your own dogs in your own land for fear of being shot. Some of the rifles would definitely cover more than the 50m limit!. Can we put up the private P signs we've seen elsewhere and if so do the hunters pay attention? Can anyone advise us of a solution other than settng up our own clay pigeon shoot every weekend?

Hello
The hunting comes with the land.
We have been peppered with shot, heard the shot land on the car, had my plastic irrigation pipe shot through in several places etc
The only way to stop the hunting is to erect a fence around your land. Totally impracticable I know. Welcome to Spain

I would suggest talking to your local Ajuntament and asking them to advise the hunters that your land is "off-limits".

Have you been here long? It is natural here to find that any land is accessible for hunters if they do not know that you do not want them to be there.

In our area, el Perello, we can go to the adjuntament and ask them to advise the local hunting society to mark our land as off-limits. They have to record this and abide by it. Generally they will unless some non members come and shoot. The hunting society "cazadores" may come and put the signs up. It is quite tightly regulated even though it sometimes doesn't seems like it.
If you don't tell the adjuntament then you can't complain!

Have never heard of being able to opt-out via your ajuntament - if you have no joy with this, you can go to Amposta and formally request your land be 'segregated'.
Simple form fill and then 'eventually' someone from the local hunting society will come round and put up the no hunting signs.
Worked for us - and as quite a few of our neighbours have done similar, we now have very few hunters about.
It should be noted that they can still walk across your land - they are not allowed to shoot on it.
In the end, we fenced off a small area around the house, so that all our various animals can be loose without us worrying about it.

Yeah the Medi Ambient people in your area are the ones to talk to.  We have no hunting signs on our property and the local hunting society were obliged to pay for them.
