Had our CatSalut cards since 2011 but recinded this year & INSS (Social Security) want forms S1 from UK HMRC but no longer available for early retirees, form SO40 needed but can only be applied for by INSS, once they have this & send to UK they provide SO41 which is a history of our Nat Ins contributions.
Anyone else having problems?

Thanks Michael, Have an appointment next Wednesday at INSS, Tarragona. Tortosa office send all paperwork there anyway. Requested a letter from HMRC confirming our NI contributions & income since 2010 which might help, will try this at CatSalut office first. Have found out if you are a resident here since before 24 April 2012 you "maybe" entitled to free healthcare as an early retiree. Otherwise it's 60€ a month for under 65s & 157€ for over 65s each & does not cover prescriptions.
No doubt Brexit will further complicate matters.

With confirmation of our income since 2010 in UK (nil) which is easily obtainable if you know your NI no. & explaining to CatSalut we are "personas sin recursos" (without means) they have renewed our cards. If we want coverage for all of Spain & other EU member states we have to go to INSS & sign on as unemployed as long as you have the green NIE paperwork (resedency) & will be valid for 1 year.

Paul H can you confirm that the €60 a month option for under 65s to access public healthcare is available in Catalonia? I thought it was only available in some regions, Catalonia not included. ?
