Title: Pine_processionary Caterpillar

I seem to have a lot of the processionary caterpillar larvae moth nests in my pines this year  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(   ;D Hair spray the nests before dealing with them to contain the little buggers. Burn the blighters.  Treat will extreme caution.

Burnt my first nests last - trimmed a few trees as well.

Found that I had cut down, and left, a branch containing  a nest that I had left. A few days after, I noticed that the caterpillars had abandoned their (now dead) nest and were crawling off.

Horrible buggers - as Bunter says - treat with caution

Seems to be earlier this year

Thank goodness they don't like olive trees!

Caterpillars are coming out of the nests in the fir trees, each day now.
Keep an eye out for them if you live near fir trees, and if you have pets.

One of my dogs was affected and has been quite ill. He has lost the end of his tonge to gangerine but
with quick treatment hopefully will survive and adapt his method of eating.

Sorry to hear about your dog. Poor thing.
Hope he will be o.k.
There are fir trees with nests in a neighbours garden, and last year another neighbours cat was very ill, and was at the vets for a while.
This morning I noticed caterpillars in our driveway again.
They really are a nuisance.

Not too bothered.  We don't have pets and I usually manage to deal with them one way or another.
