Does anyone have advice on low-cost methods for international currency transfer (USD to EUR)?

I use Transferwise for transfers, about the best and lowest cost I've found and very quick. I've had transfers complete from start to finish on the same day.

I agree. Transferwise is really good and offer good rates with a clear fee.
