Went to the Rosa Pinyol for lunch yesterday. Hernán Cortés 17, more or less next door to Lidl

Exquisite food, excellent ambience and very helpful and attentive staff.  Not cheap, although the Terea Alta wine we had was delicious and only €8 (a bottle, not a glass!).  Definitely a great 'special occasion' restaurant.

The Rosa Pinyol is one of the most well known and respected restaurants of Tortosa and the surrounding area.  For me, and I have been going there for years, it is one of the best in terms of food, Joan is an excellent chef and cooks wonderfully.  In addition in terms of price value for money I think it is also excellent.  Yes ok when you go you may think it is not cheap but once you have eaten you will see that it is value for money.

Add to that the excellent ambient in the restaurant, quiet surroundings and good service.  The only point where you can really spend money is if you are a wine buff.  They have the standard local wines but also an excellent celler where you could go mad and spend next month's leccy bill.

I recommend it.

I'm afraid it did nothing for us - the wine was the best thing!  The pasta was the wrong side of 'al dentée' and the steak was as tough as an old boot.  The staff advised my wife to try cutting it in a different direction!  I will be cutting it out of my list of places to visit!

Hi Michael

Nice to see your response re cutting the steak in the wrong direction, do I take it that they didn't offer to cook you another!! and as for the wine at €8 a bottle cripes you can get a full menu del dia for that at some places!!

And I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who complaines about restaurants on the forum!!

Any updates on this Restaurant? Appears things may have gone a bit "flat" here.  Smiley

Flat and went a few weeks ago!
Still had barriers around site the other day.
Is it going to become an extension of Lidl car park?

Hi,
Just had a chat with Lidl Gestapo and they have informed me that the building of Lidl is to be made "grande". So they need a section of the car park to be moved over onto the ex-restaurant site.

How much more floorspace  do "we" need with all the numerous supermarkets springing up everywhere? Undecided
