Reus Airport Police checking on "Pick-ups"

A word of caution!

Police are checking the insurance of drivers picking up people from Reus airport to see if they are covered to carry fare paying people and whether the vehicle is properly licenced as a Taxi cab.

This is no scare mongering.

Some local person (name withheld for privacy) was recently arrested. They checked the logo on his shirt. They typed into their computer and found his website. He was fined an exorbitant amount of money that ran into a few thousands plus. I bet he was glad that he had such good credit on his plastic flexible friend or  he may have been cooling his heels at the Spanish police hospitality.

The police do know who the regular tour guides and firms are, who are legally picking up tourists. The local taxi cab drivers have submitted complaints.

It may be prudent to encourage your holiday rentals or fishermen to book a carhire or take the bus & train.

Be careful out there!

Hey rosey

They can't stop you picking up your family and friends for free!! If you charge people and you are not insured for fare paying passengers, then your insurance won't pay out if you have a bump.

It doesn't have to be your fault either, as we found out recently, turning left into the garden centre at Amposta on the C12 stopped and indicating a Catalan in an old peugeot wacked us from behind.

So car will be out of commission for a week, but I am glad we were all legal

Otherwise we might have been in the cooler
