my dog stinks!

Undecided ! Dios Mio! My canine bloo*y stinks! I know they say dogs are like their owners so I'm blaming that on the other half. But jokes aside can someone please advise me what I can do to reduce the ever present flatulance emanating from my dog's rear? I have to keep my bedroom door closed at night otherwise he comes in and 'drops one', then wanders off again in a bid to tricking me into thinking it was my other half ( he smells even worse) I have tried everything, different food, parsley tablets, charcoal tablets, but I'm not sure if I can give these to the dog too? What do you think?
Please help before I take to sleeping on the roof. Lips Sealed

Hi Viking
Sorry to hear about your predicament, I must admit that there is nothing worse than a fart fueled by dog meat, I should know I've eaten enough Kebabs, maybe if you changed the dogs diet to vegetarian he may smell less!

Or maybe you could change his name from "Tinks" or did I misunderstand when you said your dogs tinks
You could probably rename him to something like "Mells" which might have a less pungent aroma.

Anyway it reminds me of a joke,  my dogs got no nose! How does he smell? bloody awful

The old music hall jokes are the best
Anyway don't feed him charcoal that will make him worse, how about a Cava cork for peace of mind at night

Sorry to hear of your canine conundrum Viking, but this reminds me of my dog 'Barney' who sadly is no longer with us.  However, many years back Barney used to let rip so violently and with a tremendous-sounding rasp that he scared himself and would then make a mad dash for a place of safety.  We always thought that the poor dog didn't even know that he was the culprit.  The problem with his emissions were that they were incredibly smelly and one of his little tricks was to creep behind the sofa when all the family were assembled and watching the box, and emit a silent fart (this type of flatulence he seemed to know were down to him).  This was greeted a few seconds later with a group exclamation of 'BARNEY!' and the poor dog would then be forcibly ejected from his normal hiding place to the garden.

The problem, we discovered, was vegetables, (usually leftovers from our dinners).  His constitution could not handle their digestion, although he always liked to whoof down all that he was given.

I remember a friend of mine from many years ago.  We all used to go to his house to 'chill' and whenever anyone 'let one go' the dog always got the blame and was kicked out.

One day the dog was outside but wandered in, let an almighty ripper go and then wandered back out again...

As they say, every dog has its day!

Grin What on earth were you feeding your nan? Sprouts by any chance?
Well thanks for all the advice. I have changed the dog food but it just meant a different bad smell. Oh well, they say a change is as good as a rest!
I didn't think the snappy title 'my dog stinks' would get quite so many views, but then again the forum does attract all those sophisticated types! I could have trouble thinking up my next dramatic title with such a discerning audience ( did I spell that right?)

And just before we end this thread,
'I say I say I say, my dog has no nose.'
'Well how does it smell?'
'Bloody awful!'

They always say the old ones are the best.

Like man. like dog ---theold adage - you are what you eat. You know what give you gas, so dont give it to your dog.

Once yr dog has finished eating feed them a tablespoon of natural yoghurt. This can aid digestion and also prevents a gas blast-out and a treat for the dog.

Vitamin supplements can also help.

If yr canine is over-weight regular exercise will be good for both of you and he can "let the wind blow free wherever he may be" , but not inside. This will also speed up his metabolism.

If yr dog gulps down his food he will be intaking a lot of air and this does cause gas build up. If you feed yr dog little and foten this will cut down the problem.

Sounds like the dog needs a dog detox or a Ruby Wax Colon wash..have fun.Could be Sh.. hot experience for you both

I Just don't believe what I just read, a warm enema for a dog? I've seen the look on a dogs face when the Vet approaches with a thermometer, so I wish you luck, I think the most sensible attitude is, to shut the beggar out of the house let alone the bedroom, then you won't notice a thing, and then it will truly be down to him indoors

There is such a thing as molly codling pets and I personally don't believe in it, a dog is a wolf and as soon as he realises that he is the alpha male you will be in shit in more senses than one
