It has been revealed that the next reform to the Traffic Law in Spain will see an amendment which will give a discount of half price for those who pay their traffic fines at the scene or in 15 days. A 40% discount will be applied for those who pay before the cut-off date.

The change in the law will come thanks to a cross-party pact in Congress, and could come into law at the end of March. Similar experiments have proved successful in Portugal and other EU countries.

The current discount for prompt payment is 30%.
