Chicken Wire

I have been advised that chicken wire as well as being expensive out here, is not enough of a deterrent to a Hungry Fox!!

So can anyone suggest a low cost alternative?

Is that Green heavy duty plastic mesh any cheaper?

Any suggestions welcome!!

If you're going to use chicken wire I can point you at a place that's reasonably priced.  I reckon you'd have to do a bit of research on t'iternet to find a guaranteed method of keeping foxes out.  I would imagine it would have to be fairly tall chainlink which as you probably know is available at a reasonable cost at Domingo behind Soldebre.

Human hair is supposed to be a good deterrant.  Put some in some cloth bags and hang them up around the chicken run - this is assuming of course that you have any spare (or any!) hair....

If not, a trip to the hair dressers might be in order to scrounge someone elses off-cuts.

Helped a vet in Ireland castrate a couple of donkeys the vet got the easy job with a razor blade, I had to hold the back leg!! not much fun even sedated and I don't mean me.

Anyway didn't get a chance to try the Donkeys eggs, the local sheep dog snaffled em all as quick as a flash they were gone and I was left fighting with a twitching leg

Hi Hazelnut

If you are going Vinaros way you can buy plastic chicken wire in Bricorama.  I have used it around our duck run and although I have not seen any foxes around here we do get the Catalonian Wild Cat.  Not lost any ducks as yet.  Maybe the more flexible characteristic of this could make it more difficult for Mr Todd to get his teeth around it.

Thanks for the tip Tony, I will give Bricorama in Vinaros a try but will try Blascos first as they are a bit closer

No problem.  Forgot to say that it is also much cheaper, and has stood up well to the winds down the valley.
