general transport workers strike

We have just received e-mail from easy jet warning us of a general transport workers strike on 29/9/2010 in spain although they advise our flight is unaffected by this they have offered the option of changing our flight to another day, but this is a bit inconvenient as we have car hire etc booked any ideas

We had flights to Reus cancelled during the Ash Cloud period, our pre booked car hire was cancelled with no charge

Just received text from easy jet 24 hrs prior to departure flight to spain all canceled on 29/9/2010 we have managed to re book care hire for another time and easy jet have credited us for the flights although this will take 7-10 days
seems to me the spanish want a return to a third world economy with strikes and mass unemployment

....maybe they are of a view that they dont agree with cutting public spending in line with EC directives on austerity budgets and that it wont reduce the 20% unemployment figures?
Perhaps they consider making a protest in the same way as the Irish, Belgians, French, Dutch, Portugese, Italians etc etc is the right way of getting their point of view noticed?
Just my alternative skew on the situation.... here in the UK we will probably roll over and get another shafting without doing anything about it...after all we dont want any fuss.....

Harvo I am looking at this strike from a different angle.
I will be joining the Spanish in their one day strike.
I intend to do absolutely nothing all day.....until my wife gets home then things might change Smiley

The Brits civil servants went on strike recently -  what did it achieve? Nothing.The British firemen went on strike to stop closures.What did it achieve? A big fat nothing! Are you saying all countries that strike are 3rd world countries? Dont see strikes in Ethiopi Undecideda and Rwanda...

I had a glorious day, did nothing for hour upon hour, then I picked her up from the station, cooked her an enormous dinner, opened the wine and she promptly went straight to sleep. So I watched the football in peace and I got the whole bottle to myself.
I think I might have a days strike every week from now on. (Hope she doesn't look at this forum, time to change the password Smiley )
