I posted on this issue some years ago and got flamed off but I remain resolute.  Do not buy a Spanish wood burning stove -full stop.  They are made of thin steel sheet, will bend and permit uncontrolled combustion.  You'll be sold nasty thin walled flue pipes that will bleed creosote at every joint . You must go for a solidily built cast iron one such as Dovre, Jotul etc. and get enamaled steel pipes in the house, then twin walled stainless steel tubing through the roof and out into the atmosphere.    Google for Scandinavian, Belgian or British stoves.  Anything less is a complete waste of money and will reflect on the resale value of the house.  I will get flamed.  Your call.

I Can only agree Colin we bought a Hunter Herald stove (Cast Iron) with back boiler from the UK, but not everyone has the option of transporting one here!!

Stoves with back boilers are rare here but I don't know why as linear is free if you have lots of trees and you can run central heating/underfloor heating and get your hot water for free!!

To us it was worth the price £800 and the cost of shipping, brought by tranny van, and the winters are longer than we thought!! Sad Sad

We bought a Jotul from the place in Alcanar - as mentioned it was not cheap but worth it's weight.

When I was looking into buying a wood burner I found this company and have heard through clients they are fabulous and they ship to Spain.
They have over night burning models also.

http://www.woodburningstoveslimited.com/

I didn't use them myself because I opted for oil central heating in the end.

Hope this helps.

I am by no means an expert on such things but I would like to throw in my 'four penny worth' by saying I opted for a steel box...not Spanish built granted...but steel all the same.
My reason for this is that i only use it very infrequently and i was told that you need to warm up a cast iron box slowly in case it cracks whereas a steel one you just chuck some tinder on and flame away!
The other difference Im told is the steel offers 'instant heat' whilst the cast one retains heat.

Thank-you for all your replies on woodburners. I have now elected to buy in UK and bringing it out in a couple of weeks. The next thing I require is somebody to set this into the building which may be a problem(certainly for me anyway!).
Anybody out there who knows what they are doing available to install ??
