Re-Registering a motorhome.

Hi,
Can anybody please tell me if it is possible to register a right hand drive 3.5 ton motorhome in Spain? I can't find any definitive information anywhere and need to find out if we can register it or not.

Now, Please, I am looking for information on a motorhome NOT a car or ordinary van. I am hoping somebody may have experience of this and may be able to advise. I don't want to spend a lot of money bringing it over than having to take it all the way back to the UK to sell it because we can't register it over there. Far better to know before we spend hundreds of pounds bringing it over.

All reliable info will be gratefully received.

Many thanks,
John.

Hi John,
Get in contact with Mary at CIS insurance here, her number is (0034) 977 493 607.
She knows her stuff, and I'm very happy with my insurance etc with her, and she normally comes in with lower quotes than the big boys and can also help you change your matriculation.
Hope this helps.

Jools

If it is a RHD motorhome and has a side door to the main body of the vehicle I assume the door will open on the opposite side which will not be kerbside when not in the UK.
I think you will have difficulty registering it in Spain because of this but take further advice .

Thanks everybody, The advice is appreciated. It seems that even the officials can't make their minds up and different officials say different things depending on whether it has 360 degrees all round view or not which the older ones do and the newer ones don't. Id does make a difference as to whether it is a large vehicle or a small one but also a lot of other things are taken into account. Why do the Spanish just love making things as complicated and difficult as possible?

Thanks Jack,

I've been in touch and it looks like he may be able to help. They can do this sort of thing but it means taking the vehicle down to Alicante for the ITV test.

He did mention something about registering at our local town hall once the vehicle is on Spanish plates. Anyone know what this is about?

Thanks,
John.

He might have been referring to the fact that your vehicle tax is paid to the local Ajudement via BASE along with your property tax.
