NHS in Spain or UK??????????

I went to my Doctor's at 12 noon on Monday, and from some test results, said I needed to see a specialist, so I thought that's Ok it will take around a month for the appointment to come through.

I received a phone call from the Hospital on Wednesday, saying they had an appointment for me this Friday at 10am.

I think even going private in the UK you would wait a lot longer than that.

I know prescription charges are/have gone up, but the national health service here is hard to beat.

HI.Jools. We have had many experiences like this, just the fact of going to the doctor and asking to see a specialist is simple and only waiting a few days.
I had a Triple Bypass 6 years ago and from diagnosis to the op I waited three months, went in to San Poa in Barcelona on the 21st Dec had the op on the 22nd and was bought home by ambulance and a nurse, (to the Finca) on the 24th dec.
Cant beat it, excellent.
Terry.

Suppose it depends on which specialist you need to see, as to how long you have to wait for an appointment.
Back in May my husband needed an M.R.I. scan. The doctor and receptionist said that appointment for that could take 6/7 months?  My husband was in a lot of pain, could hardly walk, stand or even lie down bed.
The doctor did make an appointment to see a specialist though, which was for 20th. July, but was cancelled until 31st. October!
Meanwhile he has paid for an M.R.I. scan to be done privately, and also paid to see a private specialist.
He is now on medication, and awaits a further hospital appointment, for advice, and possibly surgery.
Maybe we should have gone to A&E, back in May, that way he would  have been attended to, had the scan, given correct medication and advice etc. and would not had to pay either.

Hi gang. I literally just got back from seeing my specialist. I had to wait six months for my appointment but I hadn't been to see her for 4 years and had missed my last two appointments so I  mot complaining. Sat in the waiting area as she arrives and she recognised me told me off for leaving it so long to visit and asked how I was patted me sympathetically on the shoulder and saw me first. I have absolutely no complaints about the hospital services here.
