Was'nt this predicted by most on the Forum, the young dont want to farm olives or grapes.
If we can see it why could'nt the Catalan/Spanish government.

Even if they saw it there is little they would want do about it.
Since the economic meltdown in Ireland the Irish government have used emigration to reduce the pressure on the unemployment services. Whole generations of young Irish people have emigrated mainly to Canada and Australia causing a huge loss to the country and causing untold sadness to families. Immigration is a cynical policy response to the economic crimes of government.

I don't think tending olives is a full time occupation.

Not quite sure what you are getting at......I understand one thing and that is most young emmigrants make a better life for themselves in their chosen country as opposed to just hanging on in their country of birth. It's fine as long as there is control.

I am getting at a number of things.
1) Governments see emigration as part of a solution to economic problems that were (in the Irish case) caused by lack of economic regulation by the government.
2) Huge resources spent on educating these people and their potential is lost to the country.
3) Families are destroyed by loneliness and heartbreak.
4) I agree that controlled emigration is better than just "hanging on" However better still would be sound  government that did not allow this situation to occur.

According to the BBC news this morning 77.000 young Spanish have registered as living in UK, and some where asked if they would eventually return, they said never.

I enjoyed that AVO, but perhaps you could explain the link to the subject being discussed for me, as I obviously missed it.

Hmm just take yours and Mr Murdochs word for it eh? Mr Murdoch never fibs about anything of course. There's no such thing as global warming and the welfare bill is just due to scroungers(despite the fact that over two thirds of the welfare bill is taken up by pensioners). No offence but I think I trust the BBC more. : )

Is this the same trusting BBC that has been covering up Jimmy Saville´s actions for the past 50 years? (allegedly) Wink
