You need a gas contract and inspection of your installation.

Any rubber tubes must be in date, any pipes going through walls need to be in copper (I have seen loads that are not) and have an isolation  valve on the inside (one for each appliance), fitted gas hobs and ovens need to be piped in copper from the appliance to the site of the gas bottle (with isolation valve if the bottle is outside). Rubber pipes cannot bemore than 1.5m in length.

Any gas water heater needs to have its flu pipe in ridgid pipe, not corrugated (which is for extractor fans not gas appliances!) and water heaters cannot be in either bathrooms or bedrooms.

You also need a 15cm square air vent no more than 30 cm above floor level in the room where the appliance is located.

If you have industrial bottles (the large ones) or a bank of bottles connected to a manifold then there are extra requirements.

It's pretty important to get it right where gas is  concerned.  We've just had a new house built and we had to have two air vents in the kitchen near the gas cooker.  One quite near the floor and another near the ceiling.  It is certainly very 'refreshing' in these high winds.
