Just a thought - may well be a glitch but thought it worth mentioning in case anytone else had thre same problem.

I bank with the RBS in the UK and tried to withdraw some money this morning from two separate cashpoints - both came back with "This operation cannot be carried out" as opposed to the usual 'Insufficient funds' message.

Cue panic login on rbs site to check accounts had not been emptied - all OK - so called telephone banking to see whether there had been a problem with the card.

No such problem at their end - no request for cash had come through to them which they suggested meant that there was a problem at this end.

Will try again later in the day - hope that this is a one-off but may be useful to someone.
