Will be in your area next week- advice needed

We will be arriving in Reus on 17th Sept and Tortosa on 18th.We will be in the region until 27th. The main purpose of our visit is to see if we like the area enough to possibly buy a place there, with a view to staying and renting out our place in London.
I would appreciate any advice or suggestions, whether it be places to check out, pitfalls to avoid etc. Would be happy to meet any of the "forumites" whilst there and maybe they could help persuade "the missus" that it`s a good idea! Wink

Hi, the best advice I can give is hire a car at reus and then drive up the n420 towards Falset and Mora di ebre [that's through the priorat region] its quite a fast open road but it lets you see the mountains and views, either drop into Falset or Mora for a coffee. just past Falset is Marca this is where the first of the "no going back" programs was filmed "mothers garden". then I would suggest you follow the river ebro on the c12 through to Tortosa, the river views are great. Just passed the village of Benifallat you will see a sign for Prat de comte it is well worth the detour up the mountains as there is a typical catalan restaurant there that serves the best menu de dia get there about 1pm.
Look on foto casa for bargains to rent and buy.
On way back do not leave without going into the GRAND BUFFET on the national 340 at CAMBRILS you will not miss it as you will see about a hundred trucks in the lorry park, this was voted the best truck stop in Europe you go through turnstiles an take a ticket, the sea food is caught locally eat as much as you want for 12.50. enjoy!

When l used to park at Cambrils, it was known as the Upstairs and Downstairs, for obvious reasons, but that's another story!

l agree that is a nice route given by catalanboy.
We too were in the same situation some 8 years ago. Martin and Maggie of 'Mothers Garden' were our inspiration in moving out here. But if you want to look at the Tortosa area and want to be buy the sea, the town of L'Ampolla is a beautiful place,just come down the 340.

Saying that, we are just putting our Finca on the Market,. Two minutes  from Tortosa The usual 3 bed-2 bath , large pool Olive farm with great views up and down the Delta.  This may not be what you want, but you have to start looking some where, get in touch via this forum.

Or you could visit Myspanish home in Tortosa, Stephanie is always very helpful and full of info.
There is so much to see in the area, l'm sure you wont be disappointed.

Sorry folks if this is blatant advertising, but you will understand l could not miss this opportunity, and NO l am not a Estate Agent. Smiley

hello Deevat if you are interested in the Ampolla area ere some very nice properties for sale not in the village but close by in the country. there is one with water ,electricity etc.

We sold our Sailing boat to come out here.Plan was to live here 8-10 years, downsize and buy a boat then go back to Sailing  and buy a boat. Only health reasons have made us bring our plans forward. So looking to buy a boat,and nice Flat near a Marina.

Sorry to disappoint all my fans but  l will still be on the forum. Can't miss Bulldogs oratory remarks. Grin

Hi skibob,

Any advice you may need on a naval type life, I'm your man and can draw from my vast store of knowledge of walking my dog up and down the Manchester and Leeds canal until the police moved me on but thats another story.
Yours an ex submariner only allowed to go to depths of 3ft under wife's supervision, Bulldog.

I have been in that area of spain for almost 15yrs
