Burning licence 2013 / 2014 (Read 7104 times)

	Burning licence is due out on Wednesday 16th. October.

	Valid until 14 March 2014. Burning can commence from 8.00am and all burning must cease and fires must be out completely by 5pm or sunset if earlier (except for 'Recreational fires'. Valid on the days printed on your licence. No flammable liquids may be used to help start the fire, maximum height of flames is 3 metres. Other rules also apply as per your licence. John.

	Strange thing is, that the locals don't have a licence, and they burn anytime, and any day they wish! They even leave the fire unattended to go to their 'other' property, miles away for lunch and siesta.

	We have received three messages over the last week, telling us 'NO fires'. Why is it that the locals, do what they want. You can see fires everywhere you go, every day, even when there is a wind blowing, and it's extremley dangerous. The other day the whole valley was covered in smoke!

	I see fires on olive groves which are away from the forests, and it seems that when fires are within 500m of forests the rules are strongest. What rules apply where is shown in the following link. http://www.gencat.cat/medinatural/incendis/plaalfa/ However I am not sure exactly what the Catalan says - can anyone provide a reliable and practical translation of the different levels?
