Ha! Ha! what a joke!...... the advice from the British embassy reads like a insurance doc. all to cover everyones arses..... the best advice I would give anybody buying in Spain is buy a house in a hill top village that has been there for at least a hundred years , with a solid community. enough said!

The 16th December 2013 not that long ago.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
I took the link from there. You can never have enough advice you can then filter it to your needs. Or you can live in a shack in a hill top village and not give a damn.  Wink

Hi all,
From our shack on the hill, to all would be buyers (Oh dear Oh dear ) we have decided this Xmas to throw caution to the wind and enjoy our hilltop view all over the festive period. We have removed the sheet of cardboard from our picture window and along with my trusty one eyed one eared cat Jefferey we have both settled in to enjoy the spectacular Catalan views, to the left the gas works and to the right the sewage treatment plant and are enjoying watching, me with a glass of wine and him with a tin of Kit-e-Kat the comming and goings of the A&E dept. which has been placed between them. I would now like to thank all the forum members for there kind offer of a Ryanair ticket to go back to the U.K. and stay there but have to decline. Opp's have to go as Jefferey has fallen through the window frame and is now sliding halfway down the mountain just seen he has been lacing his Kit-e-Kat with my wine again.
Yours a festive ( well nearly ) Bulldog.

Merry Christmas to you's two as well, have uped his medication but still no sign of improvement. Found him this morning insisting that Jefferey signs the pledge, worrying really with Jefferey being a cat!
Yours an ever hopeful Bulldogs t'other half.

A bit more to worry you, sorry.     your house does not look old, whywas  it not finished ?   Was it Brit owned ?  Did it get officially stopped ? . Presumably no septic system, no power , no water storage ? I would try to cost those 3 major items plus cost of floors, render ,wiring, plumbing, kitchen , bathroom ,water heating (then double it ! )  The point being  ,that  what can you buy that is liveable for this amount of money .Special care if this is a permanent home for you.
