Have you not read all previous posts about this very subject.
There are checks being made here on foreign vehicles, and it's occupants, and how long they are over here.
Sorn means you have signed a form to say the vehicle is not being used on the road!

The mossos (catalunya police) have direct access to dvla, I got stopped last year and they told me that I was insured, and I had the road fund license.
They checked my papers and asked me if I lived here, in Spain.
I said I'm on an extended holiday and off I went.
The policeman spoke excellent English and was very polite.
You have to have a tax disc to drive on European roads in a uk vehicle.

Nostalgia is not what it used to be...

Jack.

I know it makes no difference to these UK cowboys with no insurance but from Oct 2014 you do not have to display a tax disc on a UK registered vehicle. (You still have to pay the tax)

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/vehicle-tax-changes

The only good thing is all UK vehicles in Spain after 6 months now must be put on Spanish plates.(Unless on holiday) They may get away with the " I am on holiday" Lie once, Never mind the cement stained clothes but your vehicle Reg will be noted and the next time It's  Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

I bet none of them have complied with these DVLA rules either I know some have been here for years.

I only asked the question as I was told that I did not need road tax
In Spain and I had noticed that a number of uk cars have no road fund disc on show, but to put your minds at rest my car is fully taxed tested and insured

You'll probably be surprised to know that most will not have a valid MOT and therefore no insurance either.

Or,
they think they have because the ITV station here take their money for what is the MOT in the U.K.
Also some insurance companies will take money here aswell. So drivers think they are covered when they are not.
But beware, as checks are being carried out!

I pay road tax in spain  at the BASE office in Tortosa
it is about time that people got their cars legal in spain.
You all know who you are.
If you are a resident in spain,  you must do this within 30 days.

Lots of people are residing here, but pretend that they are not!
Going back to the U.K to claim benefits, visit doctors etc.
Driving around in Brit. registered vehicles, and not paying any taxes here.
Nothing has changed in all the years that we have lived here, they still think that they can get away with it.
But with all the cross references now, they will get found out, one day.

Rita ,there are more than enough European people here in the UK, claiming UK  benefits and going back to there countries with there new found free wealth ,and also using the abused NHS for there  free health care ,so I hardly think that if you worked all your life in the UK and paid your way, how it can be wrong to claim a UK benefit, whilst living abroad in your twilight years.
By the way I have never claimed a damn penny from the state, but paid out all my working life. Angry

If you decide to live in Spain and for more than 180 days,
you are expected to become a resident, and therefore abide by the rules here.
So many people here, pretend that they are still living in the U.K.

That's rubbish rita, phil is right like most british citizens of  my age I have PAID 40 YRS INTO THE HEALTH SERVICE and I will dam well live where I like in the eu. and still come back to the uk to see a doctor ..... the difference is I keep a uk address. I don't begrudge any british person using the health service , as long as they have paid into it. as for people driving English registered cars in spain...... go and get a life, there is more important things going on to worry about.
