We have been watching the Games  with no problem, but this afternoon it's not possible, there is a block on BBC 1, similar to the one at the World Cup. Due to legal reasons it says.. Anyone else have this problem.?

The only way I could watch the World cup on Film-on was switch over to BBC1 and have it running 10 mins before the games broadcast programme would start. That wizard wheeze seemed to work every time. I hope it works for you Mr T.

Cool

Alternatively, add the Chrome extension "Hola" and then type www.bbc.co.uk into your browser and watch live AND iplayer.

Open your Chrome browser.  Click on the three bars at top right.  Click on Tools and then Extensions.  If Hola doesn't show, click on "Get more extensions and search for "Hola".
Essentially it's a vpn built into the browser.  When you have it, set your country to UK.  Then just enter www.bbc.co.uk" or whatever other provider you want in the Chrome search bar and select what you want to watch.  Includes iplayer and other catchups plus it speeds up your streaming rate which gives sharper results than Filmon.

Next, click on the union jack and it will say "loading" (or summat).  Then click on "Working, remember server"

When the BBC web page loads, click on iPlayer on the menu bar at the top.
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Bigyin, Yes I have done all that you advise.Even downloaded the IPlayer Download programme, but when asking it to download a TV programme,it puts the programme details into the Downloads box & then nothing happens ie the download does not start?   I have just reinstalled the IPlayer programme & looked at the Log & got this as the last message.

You shouldn't have to download anything.  Just follow the instructions above.  Did you get to the BBC web site and the iplayer page ?

I know, but I thought It would be good to save some programmes longer for later viewing. But I am getting this message now when clicking on a Programme from the IPlayer page.

BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only. Find out why.
If you are in the UK and see this message please read this advice.

So they now know i am not viewing from the UK   Sad

The hola extension gives you a UK ip address.  That's the whole point.  As for downloading, it shouldn't be necessary as the programmes stay on there for varying periods of time which is notified with each programme.

Of course you are right about the best way to use IPlayer when here in Spain.I only thought that if you could download a programme on to your hard disk & then play it at a later date,it may have proved useful & also possibly used less megabytes than if the programme was being streamed live or even directly played from the Iplayer website. The experiment was only to assist a friend who has a monthly limited download for his internet. As we can not download anyway, can any techies out there let me know if my download theory would have been correct?
