I did hear that with the crisis building permits didn't expire. Maybe it's different in different áreas but worth checking.

Well....two years ago it took me 1,5 year and a lot of paperwork to renew my licence. If i had known this upfront I would have finished the build within the first licence period.

Regulations change and my initial licence took me only 6 months to get it. But every situation is different. It depends on which town you are, what type of land you have. If you are in protected area it can cost you years to get a licence. But I also heard from friends it took them only a few months.

Good luck,
Mark

Yes they can, it happened to us.  We had planning permission from Roquetes to re-build an old mill.  When we re-submitted plans Roquetes sent them to Cat Aigua, which they hadn't before.  They refused permission for us to do anything on the site because of the risk of flooding....... in a water mill.  It cost us thousands before we had to abandon the project and start again elsewhere.

Yes they can. The ajuntament did send our paperwork to six departments (like the water department as Pondgirl mentioned). They all have there own demands and each department can refuse the permission. Sometimes you will need to send additional paperwork (like I was forced to present an expensive environmental study for rebuilding a shed which was already half finished). But as Pondgirl experienced they can also refuse definitely.

I'm so sorry to hear that.
So your'e not in the Barranc anymore ?
I don't know if you remember us, we have a finca further along the Barranc.
We chatted on here a few years ago  Huh when you were just starting your project on the mill.
We had trouble with planning too.
Anyway sorry for the hijack Steve
Cheers

Hi Norm, we are still working the olive trees and producing our own extra virgin olive oil.  We had to resort to plan B and build a house in the village rather than restore the mill unfortunately.  We still love it here though Smiley

Glad to hear you worked things out P.
We didn't have a plan 'b' back then, but we are trying to work something out at the moment.

Still won't be able to live on it but hey ho we will sort something.

We may be out there for a few weeks this winter  Wink

Cheers
