If you are resident in the UK and are going to Spain as a temporary visitor, you can apply for a UK EHIC free of charge at www.gov.uk/european-health-insurance-card or call the Overseas Healthcare Team in Newcastle on 0044 191 218 1999.

If you are resident in Spain, covered for healthcare by the UK (through an S1 form) and are going back to the UK or any other EU country as a temporary visitor, you can apply or renew a UK EHIC by calling the Overseas Healthcare Team in Newcastle on 0044 191 218 1999. They will send out an application form in the post for you to complete and return. Please note that the online service is not available to those already living abroad.
