----- what amount do you expect to lose by evaporation per day?   (those with automatic regulators need not reply !!!)

Um, yes. I think I have a leak but I´m not going to tell you how many millimetres/day I lose until the above Q. is answered.

Yours, shyly.  Col.

I reckon in the height of summer to lose about 2cm per day.
I have a pool and I look after a friends pool as well. In July August they both needed topping up every third day. Hope it helps.
Now there is virtually no evaporation as the water is much cooler.

Hi Col

I was losing 3 or 4 inches a day and it turned out that the pipes leading to the skimmers and under the patio had rotted because I like many many others had been putting the pool tablets in the skimmer basket. Please please do not do this put them in a floating distributor unless you want the hassle I had. Cry

We were once told by a pool specialist, that in Summer it's normal to lose 2cm. of water a day.
If the pool is situated where wind can catch it sometimes, then you can expect to lose more.

A friend was losing 2 inches a day and thought the pipework from the sump was at fault. He regrouted the pool and the problem wass solved.
