Google translate does a pretty good job. Not sure that it changes anything.. The rules seem to be what was already understood. Doesn't say anything about what will happen to illegal builds / extensions in the future or when almacens become inhabited.

Pete, I put the article through translate and it gives the general sense of the law but I was thinking more of a good english translation of the actual published/written law itself.

Assume you have a rural property of 55 - 60m², not higher than 5 meters and you use it only for holidays/ work on the land.

Will this new law make it more easy to legalize existing rural properties up to 60m²?
What if the existing building is 70m² or more?
For new buildings, I can imagine that this law will tell you what is possible and what not. But what will the authorities do with existing properties?

Google aint bad from catalan to English  Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided
This only seems a news report not the wording of the regulations. There is no statue ref etc.
...........................................................................

Already in force on urban master plan of traditional farm buildings in Terres de l'Ebre, a long-awaited document that comes to regular constructions on rural land, widespread traditional territory.

Until now, the lack of a regulatory framework that specifically regulate the possible actions on the rural architectural heritage had led to a difficult situation for both the owners and the government, quite illegal constructions.

With the publication yesterday of the document in the Official Journal of the Government, the 52 municipalities of the Terres de l'Ebre happen to have a clear and comprehensive regulations on the construction of houses and Masets tools, rehabilitation and expansion of existing. The document also ensures that these buildings do not end up drifting to other uses not compatible with the undeveloped land.

The plan distinguishes the different types of agricultural land where they can build Masets: high plateaus and mountains; the Ebro Delta, the plains and river terraces; as well as non-buildable areas such as the land included within the boundaries of national parks; where the farms because of the slope of the land needed to build earthworks ;? lands located in areas at risk of flooding or located in areas marked with a high risk of forest fires, among others.

The plan defines as traditional farmhouse building accustoms of family farms, where, in addition to storage of agricultural tools, we developed uses for shelter or temporary stay nonresidential and related family leisure.

Regarding the tool shed, are defined as buildings typical of small farms under both family and professional, aimed at guarding and storage of tools and products from the cultivation of the farm in operation.

The Masets new construction will have a maximum height of 5 meters above the lowest point of the ground cover. The area is 40 square meters and can reach 60 cases technically motivated. For the tool shed, the height is 3.5 meters and the area of 20 square meters.

In Masets allowed bowers, porches, sheds and paved surface attached to a maximum of 12 square meters and houses bowers tools allowed up to 6 square meters. It also establishes specific regulations for the construction of pens attached to Masets.

The plan supports also the extension of existing buildings, applying the same requirements as for new work. In this regard, municipalities have developed a catalog of existing houses and huts to its terms.

Information to municipalities

The delegate of the Government \ 's Ebro, Xavier Pallares, explained that from \ this week all citizens of the Earth \' s Ebro interested in building \ 's undeveloped land in a farmhouse s \ 'must \' s address to \ 'respective council which will be given all the information about the new regulations. Pallarès stresses that the new legislation covers a "loophole" that had so far and caused many problems to municipalities from the Ebro. "Mayors have the peace of mind that now we know where we said yes and where we said no because \ 's parameters have bounded clear about what we allow," he said.

(  a maset, is basically a small cottage for part-agricultural, part-leisure use. The idea is that these cottages can be inhabited on a weekend/ocasional basis. )

Here is an old mention of such building from Fincas direct which may give a little back ground re the type of buildings under discussion.

This is a very important new law, I think.
We need to wait what will be the consequences for those having an old casita (extended). Legalization without any problems up to 60m²?
