Morning all,
Does anyone know where the Hife bus picks up at Barcelona Airport. This looks like a great service to Tortosa Smiley

When arriving into Barcelona airport at terminal 2,
you need to go outside, where you will see a bridge, where the buses are. Board a green shuttle bus, to Terminal 1.
That will drop you off at Arrivals.
Go down to the bus stops 7 - 12. This is where the Hife bus will be.
Fare from B'clona airport to Tortosa is 21.95 each way.
If doing regular trips, there are special deals.

Has anyone actually used this service yet? I've heard, third hand, that it wasn't that smooth a service and at one point included a changeover in the middle of nowhere. Also it's nearly double the price of the train what's so much better to justify that?

I suppose the plus side for using the Bus would be that it only takes 2 hours to get from Tortosa to the airport (a lot quicker than the trains).Although if flying from Terminal 2 then the journey time increases a bit due to the shuttle connection. Also the last bus leaves Terminal 1 at 21.45,which is later than the last train to Tortosa from Sants. The fare when buying a return is around €33 Euros,so cheaper than the train. (I believe RENFE may now only sell day returns?) Of course if you have an OAP discount card, then your train tickets will be cheaper.
It would be much safer I bet.Not having to worry about Pick pockets at Sants.Although I suppose if you fell asleep on the bus journey, its possible some herbert may be on your bus & try his or her luck?  For older folks ,you would not have to worry about getting your case in the overhead luggage rack on the train,as buses load cases etc.. under the seating areas. You need (according to the HIFE website) to purchase your ticket at least 24 hours in advance of your intended return journey from the airport.I suppose this could be awkward if you suffer any air delays etc..  At least you can just turn up at the airport train station at any time & buy your ticket & get on the next train.
So I would say maybe better to travel up by bus (you will know exactly what time your bus needs to leave & buying on line with HIFE,I suppose is straight forward)  & return by train. major train delays have in the past nearly made me miss a flight! Only quick work from a barcelona cabbie saved my bacon.

We plan to use it in september (Tortosa - Barcelona airport).
Is the train so cheap? The bus is EUR 21.95. What are the costs for the train?
The bus wil take people to the airport, but the train will go to the city Barcelone.

Does anyone know the price for the train from Tortosa to Barcelona?

Our son came into B'clona on Monday and used the Hife bus to Tortosa.
Travelled back to airport on the bus yesterday.
All went smoothly both ways and was punctual.
He paid 21.95 each way.
The return for 33 euros, states for one day?
So not sure how that works?
Be nice to find out for future use.

Train costs from L'Aldea(next station after Tortosa) are about 13.50 one way and about 26euros return. You have to change at either Barcelona Sants or Franca but if you bought a ticket at the station to the airport it's all the same ticket. Just change platform for the airport shuttle. It takes between 2.5 to 3hours. Seats are comfy. Toilets. Often elec sockets to recharge stuff. I'm a big fan. The airport shuttle is usually very busy is about the worst I can say about it and if there's a gap between the train and the shuttle there are plenty of shops and cafés in Barcelona Sants with free wifi at mcd's too. I understand the attraction of Tortosa direct to the airport but there's no journey time difference and the bus seems expensive in comparison. Oh and parking is plentiful, easy and free at L'Aldea station. I've left my vehicle for a week at a time with no problem as have other friends.
I await rebuttals from bus groupies.

If I remember rightly didn't you get pick pocketed some years ago when in Sants station?
We know lots of people around here who have lost everything there.
The shuttle bus between the airport terminals run continuously. One pulls in, one pulls out.
The train ticket is cheaper. I agree that it is easy to park at L'Aldea station. Different to Tortosa station! Not easy.
The Hife bus also picks up and drops off near the roundabout and Toll Road, L'Aldea.
Maybe cheaper to travel to and from there?
At least there is a choice now, bus and train.

No Rita. I was pick pocketed on the Barcelona Metro. Everyone gets robbed on the Metro even the locals.
Never had a problem on the trains or train stations. If I'm going to be wandering the streets of Barcelona or using the Metro I only carry cash and keep my photo id stashed very securely. Fool me once.  : )
